Essie She said yes wedding collection 2014

Essie Wedding collection "She said yes" is pretty much what wedding collection should be - sheers and nudes. I do not like either. Probably I could do nudes but not sheer. Sigh... Anyway I wanted to love this collection and picking up the small cube with all 4 colors was a great way to try all of them.

Love every minute- I had highest hopes for this one. What an interesting bright peach. It was the first of 4 I tried and I was surprised how thin and watery formula is. I do not even know how many times I applied it, removed it and over and over again trying to make it look good. Three coats and still you can see bold spots.

She said yes - super interesting sheer white with micro silver shimmer. Absolutely beautiful and that comes from someone who does not like white nail polish at all. I loved it especially in the sunlight where I tried to capture beautiful shimmer. Very unique. Formula again on the thinner side, maybe not so terribly as the Love every minute.

Got engaged! - I can easily say the most beatiful baby pink I've ever tried. It has the same fine micro silver shimmer. Think of Essie's Van d go but less peachy version of it. Three thick coats for full coverage.

Meet the parents - light baby blue with creamy formula. Way more opaque than other three. Again not ideal formula but much better.  Nice shiny finish without a top coat. Not really unique color.

I struggled so much with these I can't even remember when I had so many application issues with any collection so far (from essie at least) . I added my old favorite from Essie - protein base coat. It gives nice base, like eyeshadow primer helps colors pop and makes polish stick more to the nail (actually base itself).

Overall: two very nice and unique shades -Got engaged and She said yes. Boring Meet the parents but with good formula and beautiful color but terribly formula from Love every minute.

Essie Truth or flare spring 2014

Essie Truth or flare is part of Essie hide and go chic spring 2014 collection. Color is described as "vintage blue denim". I love the description it really does remind of washed out jeans. Light cool toned blue, but toned down not as bright as some baby blues out there. Color is really beautiful but formula - the worst I have ever experienced from Essie. It's so thin almost like a water. I had to layer God knows how many coats to get any kind of even coverage on the nail. And it goes on so streaky so I was mostly dabbing the brush on the nail. How disappointing. Who has time and patience for that? What came to my mind a day later is that I should have used Essie protein base coat which does magic for lighter Essie colors. Unfortunately I do not have one at the time but will buy it soon and then try it with that. It makes lighter colors pop, without having to apply multiple coats.

All pictures are taken in direct sunlight except the last one which was taken indoors with a flash.

Essie Fashion Playground Spring 2014

Fun and games just met their match. This plucky pistachio green with subtle shimmer flirts with forever and plays for keeps.

So that was official Essie description of this really fun light green color. It does have very subtle shimmer, barely visible. It is noticeable in the bottle but applied on nails only in direct sunlight or maybe artificial light. It is not neon, and not too bright either. To me this can be summer color as well as spring. It would go great with tanned skin. If Candy mint apple is too much for you this is a great alternative. It does not have any blue in it, it is straight light green. Shimmer is silver.

Now about the formula - I won't lie it's terrible. Thin , watery, runny. I did two SUPER thick coats to be able to achieve coverage and almost even color everywhere. It did dry fast surprisingly  since it was such a thick application. I really like the color - I am usually not about light greens or light colors at all but this is pretty unique to me. I am not saying it's unique color I am sure there are a lot of dupes out there but I do not have anything similar in my stash and I am glad I got it. If you can get over poor formula and tricky application and you like the color I suggest buying it. Essie Fashion playground is part of Essie Spring 2014 Hide and go chic collection.

Essie Hide and go chic Spring 2014

Well hello beautiful covetable azure blue! Essie described it as "...impossible to miss and love at first mani". They are 100% right about this! Color is very eye catching, not only for spring and it is really love at first mani. I can't even describe what an amazing formula this is - I am wearing only one thicker coat and a top coat. I can't say that color is really unique it is similar to many blues out there but it is beautiful and if you do not have anything similar go for it. Probably the best Essie blue when it comes to formula. Essie really knocked it out of the park with great formulas in this collection.  I can't wait to try other two colors I got. Stay tuned!

I am telling you this is never ending winter. Couple of hours of actual sunshine made me rush and paint my nails asap so I can take photos while the sun is still out.

Essie Style Hunter Spring 2014

Essie Style hunter is part of Essie Spring 2014 collection called "Hide and go chic". Essie described it as "laser sharp crimson". Or even better "bright. hot. laser focused. this pure crimson is a chic-seeking missile that always gets exactly what it's looking for". What a description!! Would love someone to describe me like this :p

This color is extremely hot! It is under "pinks" section on Essie website but for me this is red with pink undertones. Formula is crazy pigmented - I am wearing only one coat of Style hunter and no top coat. Full coverage and beautiful shiny finish. At first I did have problem with it's formula - it is super thick and I had to use thinner to make it slightly more usable. After three drops of OPI nail thinner it was much better and easier to use. I only have small bottle from the mini-cube but I have a feeling I will "need" a full size :)
